Firus Druck’s own customers compliment accuriolabel 190 quality

Firus Druck serves a diverse client base across Germany from Mosel, recognised as one of the best-known wine regions in Germany. Helping customers with their own different challenges and retaining personal contact is vital for Firus Druck, particu¬larly in its important market of label printing. The company has been operating for more than 30 years and is a long-standing Konica Minolta customer. It started off using flexo and offset, but now produces most of its print jobs digi¬tally. Firus Druck offers a more personalised service than in the past, particularly with business support provided by Konica Minolta in a partnership approach.

Key drivers for investment 

Firus Druck originally printed wet-glue labels, which it could print offset and digitally. But faced with a self-adhesive label business constantly growing, it spent almost four years researching the market to find a new printer that could deliver quality at a cost-effective price for small and medium sized print runs. 

Firus Druck, which has also set up its own design and graph­ics department, knew that extra business could be won by using in-house staff to show clients layouts and colours and advise on best options. The wine label signifies a great deal to a winemaker – it reflects the brand. In a world-renowned wine region such as Mosel, vineyard owners want to create that ‘wow!’ effect and, wherever possible, have fast turnaround times with a single point of contact.

Konica Minolta solution 

None of the other suppliers met Firus Druck’s exacting expec­tations. The breakthrough came after Konica Minolta launched the AccurioLabel 190, which was developed and manufac­tured in cooperation with Danish company Grafisk Maskinfab­rik (GM). Firus Druck undertook testing and was convinced straight away. The investment also included the DC330MINI fully integrated converting line from GM as well as a hot foil system (HOTFB330) to further enhance quality and finishing. 

“We are more flexible,” said Sebastian Firus, Managing Direc­tor of Firus Druck. “Our customers are most impressed with our investment now that we can print labels in days or just a few hours. The fantastic quality has convinced everybody.” 

Firus Druck is now virtually an all-digital print business – and the company has never looked back. It’s not only the fantastic results from the AccurioLabel 190 that directly impress the vineyard owners themselves, but also the new business opportunities that are opening up with the business support and expertise from Konica Minolta. “Being cutting edge, I constantly need updates and expertise on technology,” said Sebastian. “This is all provided through the support of Konica Minolta’s knowledgeable staff.”
