Optimise the print quality of your medical images and reports on paper

The patient booklet: the essential document accompanying the patient along his or her care path

Why printing on paper makes more sense than film on so many different levels

Healthcare facilities such as hospitals, clinics, care and imaging centres all struggle with the issue of medical image printing occasionally. This is particularly the case when those facilities are producing images showing patient results, and deciding how to print or share these with all the physicians and caregivers involved. Patient results can include MRIs, X-rays and ultrasound images.

Konica Minolta’s PDB solution for medical printing functions as a gateway between the workstation and the printer. A server equipped with the Konica Minolta DICOM gateway placed between the imaging modality and the Konica Minolta multifunctional device allows users to print the all-important medical images out on paper. With DICOM, patient booklets are automatically created by integrating DICOM images and medical examination reports. These booklets can then be shared with the attending physician or colleagues for further consultation. The booklet can also include accompanying information, such as an access plan, schedules and annotations from the medical imaging centre.

Printing on paper rather than film in this way offers your organisation two distinct advantages, as the cost of the file containing the medical images provided to the patient is reduced overall, and your ecological footprint is minimised.

With the Printed DICOM booklet solution and DICOM gateway, you can print medical images and result reports using the Konica Minolta bizhub Medical. Caregivers and physicians can gather and share relevant patient data, combined with HDO details, in a single booklet, complete with a USB or DVD. Patients can then take this booklet to their GP for further examination.

Printing medical examinations with high-quality rendering

The modality generates files in DICOM format (a medical imaging standard). A server equipped with the Konica Minolta DICOM gateway placed between the imaging modality and Konica Minolta multifunctional device makes it possible for you to print the medical images on paper. Depending on your individual needs, you can define the print format either as a booklet or as individual A3 or A4 sheets.
